BASIL MINDER
BIOLOGIST, SENIOR LAB TECHNICIAN, PHOTOGRAPHER, DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY
I have a solid base in chemical sciences and love fieldwork: I offer a mix of creative media production and scientific knowledge that few can match. I earned my Master’s degree in Zoology from Universidade de São Paulo, where I focused on mass spectrometry analysis of alkaloids in poison frogs — an investigation that combined academic research with real-world impact.
The last three years, I have dedicated myself to fieldwork in diverse Brazilian ecosystems, from the Amazon Rainforest to the Atlantic Rainforest, Cerrado and Pantanal. This particular experience has not only refined my abilities in biological investigation but also in photography and videography. I create video reels, and scientific videos at a professional level using high-end equipment. My work aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and public engagement, making complex scientific insights accessible and engaging through visual storytelling.
JULIA A. PINNA
I am a Brazilian biologist, passionate by nature and science since my first years of life. I did my bachelor in Biological Sciences at Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil), and that’s when I fell in love with chemical ecology and different defensive mechanisms.
My trajectory went from studying chemical composition in protozoans and plants, to then start my PhD with poison frogs. As part of this study, I will spend some time in neotropical rainforests in Brazil, as well as inside the laboratory applying novel analysis techniques both in Brazil and in Belgium.
BIOLOGIST, PHD SCIENTIST
Besides my scientific drive, I am also very enthusiastic about all kind of artistic expression. Thus, one of my main hobbies is to mix nature and art through scientific drawings, and paintings with all types of lifeforms.
